Meet Our Daisy Family!
About the family
We're a busy two-mom family with one curious, fun, and active six-year-old daughter looking for a proactive, flexible, and dependable family assistant/childcare provider. We need approximately 70% family assistant support and 30% childcare. Day-to-day household management activities vary but generally follow a weekly cadence and predictable schedule. Our daughter is in school full time - so childcare generally involves school or after-care pickups, shepherding to after-school activities and play dates, sometimes moving through evening routine, and some meal preparation, as well as approximately one evening per week and the occasional weekend shift or overnight. We have a vacation home in Sonoma County where we spend most of our summers, and the family assistant will need to work with us there for 8-10 weeks in the summers, too, and may very occasionally travel further afield with us (~once/year or less).
We're looking for someone who can commit to a regular weekly schedule during the school year, including one weekday evening, with flexibility for the occasional weekend or overnight and the ability to shift the schedule to accommodate planned events, some school break days, and summer. We have flexibility on our end, too. Someone proactive who can plan, organize, and complete tasks without a ton of guidance and with a positive, can-do attitude. We are fun, easygoing, respectful, and open, honest communication is essential. We value the same things in others.
Responsibilities
Collaborating with us on the overall family and household calendar/schedule
Hiring, scheduling, and overseeing other household support - repairs and maintenance, services, and deliveries (in SF and Sonoma) and cleaner schedules
Picking kiddo up from school & after-school activities (enrichments, play dates, playground/nature time)
Planning home activities - creative projects, learning experiences
Weekly meal planning; preparing child lunches and snacks, and sometimes prepping and/or preparing simple vegetarian evening meals for the family
Stocking of groceries and household supplies
Household organizing, labeling, and weeding out of outgrown clothing/toys
Errands - mail, returns, pharmacy, dry cleaning, car maintenance, cat to the vet
Keeping the house tidy/light and daily housekeeping (we have weekly cleaners)
Cat care, cat/house sitting when we’re out of town
Child and household laundry as needed
Research and shopping tasks for the household and child
Occasional travel planning and research
Requirements
You have your own car & clean driving record. We have a pool at our vacation home - swimming ability and current CPR certification are also needed (by summer, we can cover the certification class if you aren’t up to date). Our daughter has a managed autoimmune condition but vaccinations and boosters for COVID/Flu are still needed.
Early Childhood Education.
Previous experience as a nanny or family assistant, particularly with young children
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage household tasks effectively
Warm, caring, and professional demeanor
Comfortable with light housekeeping duties and family meal prep
Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-player attitude
Compensation
We offer a competitive salary and PTO package up front, with a healthcare stipend and annual bonus added at the one year mark. We are seeking someone who can commit to being with us for at least two years; someone we can invest in who will grow with us.
Must-Have Requirements
A minimum of 3-5 years of recent, professional experience in childcare.
Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
Impressive references from past employers, demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and exceptional childcare skills.
Able to make a long-term commitment for a minimum of 3 years.
Willingness to undergo two background checks, namely Trustline and Nanny Verify, ensuring the safety and security of our children.
Valid U.S. citizenship or work authorization.
Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
CPR certification (if applicable).
Current vaccinations, including flu, Tdap, and proof of Covid-19 vaccination and boosters.
